It not uncommon for us to hear what's started off as online pureplay e-commerce, expanding their business via brick & mortar.
We have seen small business, growing from one-man-show blogshop, to a full fledge webStore, and then follow by a physical retail outlet (which easily double their gross sales, both online & offline)
But it's NOT so common B2C pureplay plotting their next growth on....
VENDING MACHINE !?
No kidding! Taiwan largest eStore which caters to A~Z needs for young working females (3.36 Million members with 2009 Revenue exceeding USD $ 112 Million), PayEasy, is using vending machine to sell beauty products as next engine for growth.
We initially thought that PayEasy just want to have more brand exposure to people who shop offline, and creating a sense of physical presence to further boost customer confidence.
We were wrong, they mentioned in this article, this is aim to cater for repeat purchase from existing clients! And they are looking at putting up more such machines (remember, it's unmanned, and runs 24 / 7 too!) at more places like departmental stores, hostel, railway station, and more!
Projected revenue per PayEasy Beauty Vending Machine will be about 15,000 USD to 32,000 USD per month.
Will this work? Well, since this is not the vending-machine-obsessive Japan, we shall see! But nevertheless an innovative move.
Check out the launching!
